Turkey's state-owned fuel oil network, Turkish Petroleum Oil Distribution Company (TP), has decided to start operations in the LPG sector, head of the company said on Wednesday.
TP's head said that the company plans to deliver LPG to its gas stations starting from mid-2016.
"We have started feasibility studies for the licensing process," Mutlu Gul told Anadolu Agency adding that "we decided to enter the LPG sector based upon increasing demand and our brand integrity."
Currently, TP has 350 gas stations across Turkey and is the sixth biggest fuel company in the country.
Gul said that TP will at first begin delivering gas by cooperating with other currently-running companies.
The company will install LPG facilities in its two fuel filling facilities. One of the LPG facilities will be connected by sea and the other willl be connected to TUPRAS, Turkey's oil refiner, according to Gul.
LPG represents a 40.6 percent share in the country's automobile fuel usage mix which is composed of 10.4 million cars.
