Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 13.8% to 814,952 megawatt-hours on Monday in Turkey, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 39,891 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 26,276 megawatt-hours at 04.00.
Total electricity production reached 814,872 megawatt-hours on Monday, with a 14.8% increase compared to the previous day. The majority of output came from natural gas plants totaling 218,161 megawatt-hours.
Imported coal and lignite plants followed with 205,359 megawatt-hours and 152,379 megawatt-hours, respectively. On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 6,524 megawatt-hours while imports totaled 6,603 megawatt-hours.
