This one day highly focused event will examine the current trends in decarbonization policies and how these are applied across SE Europe, with emphasis on Greece and Romania. A central theme which is of interest to all countries in the broader SEE concerns the undergoing market and policy changes in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine and the ensuing hostilities. In this context the impact of the REPowerEU policy measures adopted by the EU soon after the war in Ukraine will be examined.
A broader review of currently pursued energy policies in the SEE area will be undertaken while emphasis will be placed on adopted and applied decarbonization plans. At the same time the role of hydrogen will be discussed especially in connection with long term planning of gas systems and progress will be reported on a number of projects. Also, the decarbonization of the transport sector will be examined looking at both alternative e fuels and the EV market.
Also, the growing importance of energy efficiency and co-generation will be analyzed especially concerning applications in buildings and industry in the context of demand side management policies.
