The progress of the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC),
the gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece and the
interconnectors with the other neighbouring countries featured on the
agenda of the discussions between President Rosen Plevneliev and Amos
Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy at the
US Department of State, the President' Press Secretariat said on
Wednesday.
The implementation of these projects will guarantee diversification of
energy supplies both to Bulgaria and the region, Plevneliev pointed
out.
According to Hochstein, it is very important for the interconnectors to
be reversive in order to ensure two-way supplies of natural gas.
President Plevneliev and Hochstein underscored that the upcoming signing
of a conclusive investment decision will open the way to the practical
implementation of the Bulgaria-Greece interconnector project.
According to Plevneliev, it is important for the region that the establishment of the European Energy Union would begin in the Balkans to develop a regional energy exchange, which will be a precondition for achieving competitive prices of the energy resources.
