Serbia Withholding Natural Gas from Hungary

The Serbian state natural gas system operator Szrbijagasz is not providing Hungary with non-discriminatory access to the Horgos natural gas transfer point, the Council of Ministers of the European Union Energy Community has stated, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

In doing so, Serbia has failed to fulfill its obligations under the Energy Community Treaty.

According to the decision, Srbijagas imposed discriminatory conditions on the allocation of pipeline capacity, which infringes the EU's Third Energy Package Gas Directive and the requirement to provide third party access to capacity on equal terms, the report says.
