Belgrade is an exceptional place where heat can be produced using
ecologically advanced heat pumps which would provide heating for
Belgrade citizens, officials said during a conference on heating and
cooling held in Brussels, reports Tanjug.
Belgrade stretches
across two rivers and it gives it a benefit compared to many other
cities to become both a national and a regional leader in the use of
renewable energy sources for remote heating, the officials stated during
the conference.
Using the heat from the Sava River, the pumps
can produce 3-3.5 heat energy units from one single unit of electricity,
which is a more affordable solution than imported gas, Dave Pearson of
Star Renewable Energy company said during his presentation at the energy
conference in Brussels.
According to a release the company filed
to Tanjug, Pearson presented the technical characteristics of the
future project which would make it possible for Belgrade citizens to
have a more stable heat source that does not depend on fuel imports and
the global geopolitical situation.
The project will contribute to
the realisation of Serbia's mandatory goals in terms of renewable
energy by the year of 2020 and Serbia's EU accession.
