"I heard from Russian colleagues that the European representatives had
offered Russia to build a gas pipeline called Eastern Ring, which to
pass through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, while Serbia to be
skipped,” Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in Saint
Petersburg, as cited by Radio-televizija Srbije /RTS/.
"I have never imagined such a hypocritical behaviour possible on behalf
of high-ranking EU officials because they are the one with the highest
fault for South Stream’s cancellation,” Minister Dacic said after
meeting with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Gazprom CEO
Alexei Miller.
In Dacic’s words, if this is really true, Serbia will have to hold serious talks with the EC.
"When the gas should flow through Serbia, we have a political problem,
while when it is directed to West Europe – this is considered economy,
which has nothing to do with politics,” the Serbian minister added.
