Rosneft, Japan Energy Agency Meet to Develop Projects

Rosneft and Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan (ARNE) have met in Tokyo on Tuesday to develop new energy projects, according to a statement by Russian oil giant. The two parties had agreed last year during the 5th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok to develop strategic energy cooperation and to expedite implementation of new joint projects.

During their meeting on Tuesday, Rosneft and ARNE discussed the progress of ongoing joint projects, opportunities for expanding cooperation in oil and natural gas exploration and production, and development of petrochemical business in Russia and third countries.

Other topics included implementation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, hydrocarbon trading, and participation of Japanese companies in Rosneft's procedures and development of technology and innovation. Rosneft said its executives also conducted a number of bilateral business meetings with representatives of major Japanese energy companies, and Japanese firms operating in petrochemistry and engineering. Established in 1973, ARNE is part of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and it is responsible for the country's energy and natural resources policies.
