Romania’s Petromida Refinery Back to Optimal Operational Capacity

Tuesday, 07 February 2023

Romania’s Rompetrol Rafinare [BSE:RRC] said on Monday that its Petromida Navodari oil refinery is operating at optimal capacity, following the completion of scheduled maintenance works.

After the completion of the works, which lasted about seven days, the installations returned to an optimal flow of processing crude oil and semi-finished products, with the average amount of raw material processed currently standing at some 15,000 tons per day, Rompetrol, part of KMG International Group, said in a statement.

The main operations carried out at the refinery included the decoking of the equipment used in the advanced processing of crude oil distillation residues, respectively the change and regeneration of the catalysts used in the production of petrol. The works aimed to increase the energy efficiency of the units in the operational flow and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Deliveries of fuels and other petroleum products were not affected during the period of maintenance.

On January 25, Rompetrol Rafinarie announced a 10-day scheduled turnaround at Petromidia Navodari.

Rompetrol Rafinarie is the core Romanian asset of Dutch-based KMG International, formerly The Rompetrol Group, which is fully owned by Kazakhstan's state-owned energy company KazMunayGaz Group. Rompetrol Rafinarie operates two oil refineries, with Petromidia Navodari providing roughly 40% of Romania’s refining capacity.

Rompetrol Rafinare shares traded 0.63% lower at 0.079 lei ($0.017/0.016 euro) as at 0944 CET on Monday on the Bucharest bourse.
