Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN], the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Cernavoda, said on Friday it will reconnect the plant's Unit 1 to the power grid in the morning of November 12.
On November 9, Nuclearelectrica said it had to disconnect the unit from the grid due to damage to a power line caused by bad weather.
"In order to resynchronise Unit 1 to the National Power System, Cernavoda NPP specialists decided to perform additional works, including the verification of installations, works which can only be performed with the reactor in shut down mode, as per the applicable procedures of the nuclear power plant," Nuclearelectrica said in a press release.
"During the outage, the systems of the power plant functioned in compliance with the project and there was no impact on the nuclear safety of the reactor, operational personnel, population and environment," Nuclearelectrica said.
The Cernavoda plant, located in southeastern Romania, has two reactors of 700 megawatts each, which cover roughly a fifth of the country's power needs.
Blue-chip Nuclearelectrica was trading flat at 4.86 lei on Wednesday at 1450 CET on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
