Romanian nuclear power
producer Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN] said on Friday it has reconnected one of
its two units tothe national grid after fixing a technical glitch.
Unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant (NPP) was reconnected to the power
gridduring themorning of June 12,Nuclearelectrica said in a
statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
The operator disconnected Unit 1 from the power transmission systemon
June 10in order to performprecise remediationworks on the
electrical powerevacuation system, while maintaining the reactor on
power.
"Thesecorrectivemaintenanceoutagesareincludedintheannualbudget,andinthecaseofCernavodaNPParethreetimesbelowthecurrent
averageinthenuclearindustry," the company said.
The repair workswere carried out in compliance with the procedures of the
power plant, as well as the protection and safetystandards,without
any adverse impacton the population, the staff, the installations and the
environment, the statement added.
Last week, Nuclearelectrica completed scheduled maintenance works on Unit 2 and
brought it back online. The unit was disconnected on May 8as part of a
maintenance programme performed once every two years for each unit.
Blue chip Nuclearelectrica operates the country's sole nuclear power plant,
located in Cernavoda, in Romania's southeast.The Cernavoda planthas
two reactors of 700 megawatts each, which cover roughly a fifth of the
country's power needs.
