Romania's n-Plant to Shut Down Unit for Maintenance

Nuclearelectrica, the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, said on Wednesday it will disconnect from the national power grid one of its units for plannedmaintenance.

Unit 2 will be disconnected at 2300 CET on May 8as part of a maintenance programme performed once every two years for each unit, Nuclearelectrica said in a statement.

The operator did not say when it plans to bring the unit back online.

The Cernavoda plant operates two 700-megawatt units which cover around one-fifth of Romania's electricity needs.
