Romania Has One of the Weakest Transport Infrastructures in Europe

Romania has one of the weakest transport infrastructures in Europe, due to the political influence in setting strategic priorities in this field, according to the European Commission’s report on Romania.

The projects are insufficiently prepared and they are often influenced by external factors, reads the report.

The pre-feasibility and feasibility studies are often coordinated with the political calendar or other short-term priorities that have nothing to do with technical issues, according to the EC. Studies usually fail to respect the standards for initiating the implementation stage.

The lack of mature projects and solid feasibility studies make it harder to find financing sources, reads the EC report.
