The seminar is mainly addressed to investors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, banking and finance executives, as well as to senior executives of companies, engineers, environmentalists, executives of the energy sector and related industries, to regional and local government officers but also to energy professionals aspiring to deepen their knowledge on these issues.
The seminar is part of IENE's consistent effort to reach out to a broader audience and inform on the key issues involved in Energy Transition and the role of RES and the green economy in general. The global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the decarbonization of electricity generation and the transition to clean energy technologies are currently at the heart of the upgrading and transformation of the energy sector in both Greece and Europe. Right now, RES tops investor interests and government efforts to create local added value and gain comparative advantage in the context of an integrated energy market. The huge interest for investments in RES, the fast-growing market, the mature and tested technologies, the existing (and evolving) institutional framework create a favorable environment for safe business investments but also in identifying new business opportunities. At the same time, changing production methods and new distribution patterns, including the changing role of consumers to prosumers, open up the possibility of exchange and marketing in a more democratic energy market, with business models and smart contracts depending on the particular environmental and socio-economic context of each market.
The online seminar "Renewable Energy Sources and Sustainable Development" will last 32 teaching hours, consisting of nine 3-hour and two 4-hour presentations. The deadline for submitting applications is May 17, 2021.
