Following an invitation by the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, an IENE team visited the University campus on November 3 and held a two hour seminar focusing on energy issues in SE Europe. Central to IENE’s presentation was its "SE Europe Energy Outlook 2016/17” major study, from where key issues relevant to SE Europe’s economic, energy infrastructure, energy security and investment aspects were discussed. Over the last years the University of Piraeus has developed a pioneering English language post graduate course on Energy Strategy, Law and Economics and hence a presentation of the Outlook study proved most relevant to the course’s curriculum.

The "Outlook” Study was presented by IENE’s full inhouse research team with the participation of Executive Director, Costis Stambolis, Head of Research, Nicholas Sofianos and the Resident Research Associate, Dimitris Mezartasoglou. Introducing the "Outlook” presentation, Dr. Aristotle Tziapiris, Head of the course and Chair of the Department of International and European Studies, stressed the importance of this work in view of its holistic approach and its highly comprehensive examination of the energy situation in SE Europe and its in depth analysis of the key energy issues confronting the region.

Two hard copies of the "Outlook” Study were donated for the University library while an electronic version of the presentation was sent to course leader Prof. Ioannis Paravantis for circulation to all attendees.
