Local & Renewables Form 82% of Turkey's Power on May 19

Turkey produced 82% of its electricity from domestic and renewables resources on Sunday, May 19, according to statistics from Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry. The statistical data showed the country produced a total of 676.05 million kilowatt-hours of electricity on Sunday.

From this total, hydro plants constituted the largest percentage of 53.74% equivalent to 363.29 million kilowatt-hours. Local coal plants contributed 18.74% to electricity generation, wind plants powered 4.30%, and natural gas power plants added 6.59%, while 11.19% consisted of imported coal.

The remaining 5.44% was generated from geothermal, fuel oil and biogas plants.
