The prospects of resuming the South Stream project to pump Russian natural gas to Europe and the project to build the Belene nuclear power plant in Bulgaria are minimal so far, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
"Judging by how this [cooperation in these projects] looks like today, these prospects [of resuming their implementation] are minimal," the presidential spokesman said, commenting on the results of the presidential elections in Bulgaria on Sunday.
Russia was earlier working on several large-scale projects with Bulgaria, the presidential spokesman said.
"For well-known reasons that cause deep regret, these projects were curtailed," Peskov said.
"We hope that new projects will appear. Russia has always adhered to the idea of expanding cooperation with Bulgaria and will continue to do so," he said.
