Kashagan to Hold Trial Oil Extraction Launch Before New Year

A test launch extraction of oil on the Kazakh oil field Kashagan, the world’s largest oil and gas field in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian shelf, will be held before the New Year. However, the planned oil production will begin only in 2017, Kazakhstan’s Economy Minister Erbolat Dosayev said on December 28.

"Projects Kashagan are realised at the expense of Finance Consortium (NCOC – North Caspian Operating Company). Work is ahead of schedule. We hope, that the test runs will be made at the end of December this year and we can receive the first oil. We are very hope to it. However, the planned oil production at the field will begin in 2017,” Dosayev told a governmental hour in Majilis, the lower house of Kazakhstan’s parliament.

The Kashagan field is located in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea and has been plagued by several delays.
