The latest issue of IENE’s monthly "SE Europe Market Watch” (no. 117) was sent electronically to all members of the Institute earlier this week. As usual, "Market Watch” reports on latest news and developments on energy in SE European countries and neighbouring regions.
The signing of the Southern Gas Corridor Pact by Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro and Azerbaijan is one of the main topics analyzed in this "Market Watch” issue. Furthermore, this issue focuses on several subjects related to Russia’s energy strategy:
- its government’s response to EU’s recent demand for change in bilateral agreements on South Stream,
-a gas deal between Moscow and Syria’s government, in contrast to the political stance of the West towards Assad’s regime,
- Russia’s post-Soviet record 2013 oil output, etc.
The reasons behind the recent fall in international oil prices and the high cost of EU energy bills are also some of the developments covered in this latest "Market Watch” issue.
In the Country Roundup section of this newsletter, latest news are reported on the 14-country group which IENE monitors on a regular basis.
