In spite of the Coronavirus epidemic IENE continues to function and deliver useful and much needed informationNow in its fourth week in lockdown conditions the Institute continues to function on a daily basis producing much needed information and analysis on the energy sector and SE Europe's energy markets in particular.

Apart from a skeleton staff operating out of IENE's offices in central Athens all its researchers and analysts operate from home and are in regular touch with each other and with the management through e mail and Skype. This has enabled the Institute to carry on with its research and studies but also focus on the preparation and production of its regular information feed.

Now in its fourth week in lockdown conditions the Institute continues to function on a daily basis producing much needed information and analysis on the energy sector and SE Europe's energy markets in particular.

Over the last week or so IENE has sent out to its members the full compliment of its regular information output. This includes the "Weekly Energy Review" (issue No. 209) which was sent out on April 2, the SE Europe Energy Market Watch which is part of the SEE Energy Briefing (March issue No. 306) which was sent out on April 6, and the SEE Electricity Market Analysis (issue No. 75) and was dispatched on April 8. In addition on Monday, April 6, the Institute circulated its weekly analysis of the Greek Energy Market (issue No. 128) while on April 7 it sent out its monthly analysis (issue No.129) of the same market. Meanwhile background work is being carried out by IENE associates on a new monthly publication which will review SEE Gas Markets and which according to current plans will be launched in fall this year.

At the same time the Institute's research staff, with the assistance of external associates, is fully engaged with the preparation of the 2020 SEE Energy Outlook, publication of which is planned for next October. Some 20 outside experts are already involved in the preparation of this major reference study which follows the one published by the IENE in 2017. Among other the Outlook will include 15 Country Profiles which are contributed by IENE associates and collaborators operating from their respective countries.

Preparations are now in hand for the next meeting of the Institute's Executive Committee which will meet through Skype in the afternoon of April 14. Also, a major study presentation to participating companies is planned through Webex on April 23.

This multi client study, which was carried out thanks to the support of six major Greek energy and industrial companies, and was completed few weeks ago, deals with «The Integrated Electricity Markets in Greece and SE Europe, the Role of the International Electricity Interconnections and the Impact on Industry». Soon after its presentation IENE will release an executive summary of the above study in the form of a Working Paper.
