IENE’s New Executive Committee

At the 18th General Assembly of IENE’s partners which was held in Athens last Monday, June 10, a new executive committee was elected, since the term of the previous one expired at the end of May.

Mr. John Chadjivassiliadis, an electrical consulting engineer and a well respected professional of the energy sector and until recently the Institute’s Secretary General, was elected as Chairman of the Institute following a unanimous decision by the partners.

Mr. Costis Stambolis remained as Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of the Institute. Mr. Konstantinos Papamichalopoulos, a lawyer, was elected as Secretary General. The rest of IENE’s executive committee members are as follows: Mr. Alexandros Vrachnos, Mr. Konstantinos Theofilachtos, Mr. Thomas Lamnidis and Mr. Dionisios Xenos. The term of office of the new executive committee is two years and will last until June 2015.

During the discussion that followed the election of the Institute’s new Executive Committee, strategic objectives and goals were redefined and are summarised as follows:

(a)Improve the flow of reliable and up to date information on energy issues in SE Europe and improve and expand IENE’s current publication base.

(b)Undertake the preparation of studies and research projects to be assigned by major companies or to be carried out upon the initiative of the Institute; seek participation in EU and UN funded projects.

(c)Undertake the organisation of events all over SE Europe in order to expand the contacts and collaborations of the Institute with other organisations and companies in the wider region.

(d)Seek to increase the number of IENE members, both corporate and individuals, from all different countries of SE Europe.
