The Executive Director of IENE Mr. Costis Stambolis paid a two day visit to Serbia last week (October 21-22) in advance of the Institute’s Summit Meeting next December on South Stream. While in Belgrade Mr. Stambolis had meetings with Serbia’s top energy companies, including NIS-Gazprom Neft, EPS, the state electricity company of Serbia, and Serbia Gas. The first two companies being IENE corporate members. IENE has already announced plans to convene in Belgrade on December 10 a high level meeting to discuss the South Stream project and its impact in SE Europe.
The one day South Stream Summit will take place at the Hyatt Hotel and contributions are expected from all countries involved in the project including Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria and Italy. In addition, representatives of the European Commission will be invited to participate and inform on EU’s views and position on the project. A number of independent experts and companies involved in the gas sector have also been invited to take part in this unique event.Full information on the Belgrade Summit will be announced shortly by IENE through its site.
