The 2nd conference organized by fmw financial media way titled "Now is the time to invest in Greece" was held with great success on Thursday 20 February, at the Aegli Conference Center in downtown Athens. The conference explored the latest developments in the Greek economy, the measures taken to further consolidate latest achievements and the changes being promoted in the investment framework in order to attract foreign investment. Conference speakers also stressed the reforms being promoted in the Greek tax system, as well as the business opportunities presented in the various sectors of the economy.

During the first session, the tax, investment and business frameworks were analyzed, while in the following six sessions, participants discussed specific investments in finance, real estate, tourism, energy, shipping as well as technology, innovation and start-up companies.

IENE, which was conference supporter, participated in the conference proceedings through addresses by the Institute’s chairman, Mr. Costis Stambolis and by its partner and Senior Technical Adviser to Energean, Dr. Dinos Nikolaou.

Following an overview of Greece’s energy sector, which contributes some 6% of the GDP, Mr. Stambolis presented the energy business prospects as well as the anticipated investment funds required for various energy projects for the period 2020 - 2030, (estimated at some 45bn Euros), while Mr. Nikolaou analyzed the investment opportunities in the hydrocarbons field in Greece and Cyprus.
