IENE’s Active Participation in the "HydroTech Balkans and Balkan Wind Power" Conference in BelgradeOn March 24, Mr. Nicholas Sofianos, IENE’s Research Projects Coordinator, participated in a two day Conference and Exhibition on "HydroTech Balkans and Balkan Wind Power", organized by Green World Conferences, in Belgrade, Serbia (24 – 25 March). Over 120 wind and hydro energy executives from SE Europe participated in this regional meeting which was dedicated to wind technology and project development in the Balkans.

On March 24, Mr. Nicholas Sofianos, IENE’s Research Projects Coordinator, participated in a two day Conference and Exhibition on "HydroTech Balkans and Balkan Wind Power", organized by Green World Conferences, in Belgrade, Serbia (24 – 25 March). Over 120 wind and hydro energy executives from SE Europe participated in this regional meeting which was dedicated to wind technology and project development in the Balkans. Mr. Sofianos, had been invited by the organizers to deliver the key note address at the beginning of the event. The title of Mr Sofianos presentation was "An Overview of Renewable Energy Sources in SE Europe, Challenges and Opportunities”. The key note address will soon be available in IENE’s website in the news section.

Mr. Sofianos was also chaired the first session of the conference which focused on the renewable energy industry in the Balkans and the roadmap to 2030. Among the speakers of the 1st session were Mr. Dejan Trifunovic, Deputy Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Ministry of Serbia as well as Mr. Simon Uzunov, Senior Executive in the Energy Community Secretariat in Vienna. The speakers shared their views on the status and future of the renewable energy sector in SE Europe and the strategies toward the European energy market integration. The event was well-attended with several experts and professionals from many different countries of SE Europe in the various energy and business sectors.
