IENE's 14th SEE Energy Dialogue will focus on the regional impact of the energy crisis on the countries of Southeast Europe

The upcoming 14th SE Europe Energy Dialogue, scheduled for May 25/26 in Thessaloniki, will be held in a hybrid format and will focus on the impact of the energy crisis on Europe, with a special emphasis on the wider SE Europe and the East Mediterranean region. The 14th SE Europe Energy Dialogue aims to highlight the regional impact of the energy crisis in SE Europe and address important issues related to the energy sector. The event will cover various topics, including hydrocarbons, electricity, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, energy transition, geopolitics, and energy security. Distinguished speakers, including senior executives from major energy companies, experts from all energy sectors, government officials from the Western Balkans, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, and Greece, as well as representatives from regional and international organizations and think tanks, are expected to participate in the event.

The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine had a severe impact on European energy markets, resulting in gas supply disruptions and unprecedented increases in electricity and natural gas prices. As a result, energy security has become a critical issue for all European countries. Against this backdrop, the SE Europe Energy Dialogue will kick off with a special Ambassadors' Forum, with the participation of ambassadors from important regional and international countries. Furthermore, a session dedicated to Geopolitics and Energy Security in SE Europe will emphasize the geopolitical dimension of the energy crisis.

The 14th SE Europe Energy Dialogue will address various issues, including the volatile energy price environment, global concerns for sustainable alternatives, and the need to promote carbon-free applications. Along with the latest developments in the natural gas, electricity, and renewable energy markets in SE Europe, collaborations with major energy suppliers will also be highlighted. The "Country Reports from SE Europe" session will present detailed reports on energy developments in all SE European countries. The role of alternative gas supply routes, LNG shipments, cross-border gas and electricity interconnections, electricity grid upgrading, and the latest RES technology and CCUS applications will also be examined.

The following individuals have been confirmed as speakers for the 14th SE Europe Energy Dialogue: Mr. John Roberts (Energy Security Specialist – Scotland, United Kingdom), Dr. Charles Ellinas (Senior Fellow, Atlantic Council – United Kingdom), Dr. Ioannis Kambouris (President & CEO, Southeast Electricity Network Coordination Center – Greece), Mr. Tamer Emre (Director of Market Operations, Energy Exchange Istanbul – Turkey), Dr. Katja Yafimava (Senior Research Fellow, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies - United Kingdom), Mr. Slavtcho Neykov (Chairman of the Board of Managers, Energy Management Institute – Bulgaria), Mr. Milan Zdravkovic (DSO Executive Director, JP SRBIJAGAS – Serbia), Dr. Amit Mor (CEO of Eco Energy Financial & Strategic Consulting, Senior Lecturer at Reichman University – Israel), Mr. Max Vauthier (Managing Director chez LNG Value Ltd Paris – France), Prof. Stavri Dhima (Energy Consultant, Oil and Gas Consultant – Albania), Ms. Eugenia Gusilov (Director, ROEC – Romania), Mr. Milos Mladenovic (Managing Director, South East European Power Exchange / SEEPEX – Serbia), among others.
