IENE Working Group on «Developing Albania’s Hydroelectricity Sector» Tirana, April 17, 2013

As part of its mission and overall strategic objectives in studying and analyzing energy markets and energy resources in SE Europe, the Institute is convening a special Working Group in order to examine Albania’s hydroelectricity sector. The working group will meet in Tirana at the International Ηotel, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from12:00 to 15:00.

Invited to participate in this closed working group meeting are Albanian and Greek energy experts. The workshop will aim to highlight the important issues of the sector, including non technical obstacles that hinder investments in the Albanian hydroelectricity sector.

The scope of this working group will be to assess the current situation in Albania’s hydroelectricity sector with the view of proposing a specific workplan for attracting investor interest. As part of its agenda the working group will consider the preparation of an assessment report on Albania’s hydroelectricity sector and the organization of a special workshop. This report is to be used as a background paper in a workshop which IENE intends to organize next fall in Tirana in order to promote the hydroelectricity potential of Albania. Another task of the working group will be to formulate a proposal for such a workshop and set a timetable for its realization but also ensure that its findings are brought to the attention of the government of Albania and likely donor agencies and investors.

Any IENE member interested to participate in this Working Group should send an e-mail to IENE’s secretariat at [email protected]confirming their interest and stating their name and affiliation.
