The 33 page Background Paper covers eight basic areas of interest including Europe’s great reliance on Russian Oil and Gas,how Europe can reduce its reliance on Russian Oil and Gas, developing further hydrocarbon resources in SE Europe, Energy Security Implications, the impact on SE Europe, energy market integration in SE Europe, the growing importance of Renewables in SE Europe,energy efficiency is key to improving SE Europe’s energy security and nuclear power in SE Europe. The Paper concludes with an all round discussion and an extensive list of references.
The 13 th SEE Energy Dialogue took place at the Met Hotel in Thessaloniki, but also in hybrid form, on June 16&17. It involved 65 speakers and panelists from 20 different countries while some 200 participants followed the proceedings, many of them online. The conference covered a truly wide range of areas in the broad energy sector including electricity and gas market issues, energy efficiency, renewables, liquid fuels, hydrocarbon exploration and production, investments, security of energy supply and geopolitics issues.
The 13 th SE Energy Dialogue was backed by a number of major local and regional companies including the KG Law firm and HEDNO, who acted as strategic sponsors. A much larger group of sponsors was involved and included the Hellenic Petroleum Group of Companies, the Motoroil group, the Public GasCorporation (Commercial), the Hellenic Energy Exchange, Terna Energy and Elpedison. The conference was further backed by a number of companies who acted as Supporters and included Energean, the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), the Independent Electricity Transmission Operator (IPTO) and Ensco, a leading regional electricity trader.
