On May 22 a highly focused event convened by Greece’s Independent Gas Transmission Operator, DESFA, was held in Vouliagmeni, Athens in order to discuss latest gas market developments but also host the region’s TSO’s as they strive to deepen collaboration in order to launch the Vertical Gas Corridor
On May 22 a highly focused event convened by Greece’s Independent Gas Transmission Operator, DESFA, was held in Vouliagmeni, Athens in order to discuss latest gas market developments but also host the region’s TSO’s as they strive to deepen collaboration in order to launch the Vertical Gas Corridor.
Entitled “Vertical Corridor Initiative: The binding phase for the implementation of the pivotal expansion projects”, the meeting attracted representatives from almost all of SE Europe’s Gas Transmission Operators.
The meeting started with opening remarks by the CEO of DESFA Mrs. Maria Rita Galli and opening addresses by Greece’s Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Mrs. Alexandra Sdoukou and also by Csaba Marosvari, Hungary’s Deputy State Secretary for Energy Security.
General presentations were contributed by : Mr. Kostis Sifnaios, CEO of Gastrade which operated the FSRU in Alexandroupolis, Mrs. Teodora Georgieva, Executive Director of ICGB in Sofia, Mr. Kuril Ravnachki, executive director of.Director of Bukgartransgaz, Mr. Ion Sterian, Director General of Transgaz, Mr. Szabolcs Ferenz, CEO of FGSZ and Mr. Dmytro Lyppa, General Director of GTSOU.
A series of technical briefings followed by senior executives from the various TSO’s but also from pipeline and LNG operators concerning market tests and booking of capacities in related infrastructures. Overall this half day specialised event, which was attended by the Chairman of IENE, proved extremely helpful with regard to further steps that need to be taken in optimising efficient market operation and in introducing various improvements in grid design and architecture.
