IENE’s Chairman was Keynote Speaker and Moderator of Energy Panel at the Annual Belgrade Economic Forum

Following an invitation by the organisers, TGI Group International and the Delphi Economic Forum, Mr. Costis Stambolis, the Chairman of IENE, moderated the panel on energy at the Belgrade Economic Forum XXIV which took place in Serbia’s capital on October 29-30,2024. The panel covered the “ Energy Outlook in Southeast Europe with a Focus on Serbia” and included a keynote presentation

Following an invitation by the organisers, TGI Group International and the Delphi Economic Forum, Mr. Costis Stambolis, the Chairman of IENE, moderated the panel on energy at the Belgrade Economic Forum XXIV which took place in Serbia’s capital on October 29-30,2024. The panel covered the “ Energy Outlook in Southeast Europe with a Focus on Serbia” and included a keynote presentation (which can be seen here) followed by a roundtable discussion with the participation of four distinguished energy experts.

After an introductory presentation by Costis Stambolis, which set the stage by describing the latest state of affairs in the energy sector in SE Europe ( and can be seen here) the floor was given to the panel participants. They included Professor Dr.Nikola Rajakovic, President of the Association of Energy Specialists, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Belgrade, Luka Jovanovic, Development Project Director for Serbia at CWP, Ms.Jasmina Trhulj, Head of Electricity Unit, Energy Community and Dr.Plinio Nastari, President and CEO of Datagro Consultoria in Brazil.

With initial statements contributed by all the above, a wide ranging discussion followed which focused on Serbia’s plans and efforts to double its renewable energy capacity, mainly for power generation, over the next two years. A number of important issues were raised related to regulatory,licencing and engineering aspects. The panel agreed that urgent steps needed to be taken by the government for improved coordination between the various state entities involved in the licensing process as well a the need for greater transparency.
