Covering a diverse range of topics at the forefront of the global and regional energy agenda, IENE's annual milestone event, the National Energy Conference “Energy & Development” this year will be held on November 6 & 7, at the “OTE Academy” in Athens. The “Energy & Development” Conference, now in its 28th edition, is expected to attract a large number of participants including senior executives and government officials from Greece and abroad.
According to the latest conference programme, the event will open with a keynote speech by the Senior Energy Advisor of the Prime Minster, Mr. Nikos Tsafos, while introductory statements and addresses will be delivered by the Energy Regulator, Prof. Athanasios Dagoumas and other high-ranking officials and representatives from Greece's energy and economy sector. The Deputy Minister for Energy, Mrs. Alexandra Sdoukou will participate and speak in the special session on offshore wind on Wednesday afternoon, November 6.
In total, more than 70 speakers and moderators have confirmed their participation in this year's IENE's “Energy & Development” Conference. These include many senior executives from major energy companies and organizations in Greece and abroad, as well as academics, scientists, representatives of international organizations and well-known stakeholders. Moreover, established experts and analysts will share their perspective on highly topical energy matters.
As every year the International Energy Agency (IEA) has released its flagship publication, the “World Energy Outlook 2024”. One of the first international presentations will take place during the conference by Mr. Oskaras Alsauskas, Energy Analyst who will travel to Athens especially for the occasion. The conclusions of WEO 2024 will be commented upon by a distinguished panel of experts.
IENE's 28th “Energy & Development” Conference will cover a wide spectrum of issues in the domestic, regional and international energy agenda, which, among others, will include: Offshore Wind Farms, Investments in energy infrastructure, Energy Efficiency, ESG criteria, Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production, Artificial Intelligence (ΑΙ), Energy Optimization and Digitalization, Natural Gas Markets, Electricity Markets, Electricity Grids and RES, Alternative Fuels - Hydrogen - Synthetic Fuels, CO2 Management and CCUS Systems, Climate Change, Sustainability and COP29.
