With only a day left before the start of this major energy conference, organized by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), there is growing interest and anticipation by companies, experts and media. With more than 75 speakers and moderators and 250 registered attendees this year’s event is slated to become another successful event for the Institute.
Now in its 28th edition this IENE conference has been established over the years as a high level colloquium for energy policy and business in Greece and SE Europe.
The event will open with a keynote speech by the Senior Energy Advisor of the Prime Minster, Mr. Nikos Tsafos, while introductory statements and addresses will be delivered by high-ranking officials and representatives from Greece's energy and economy sector. These include Dr. Athanasios Dagoumas, President of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water (RAAEY), Mr. Yiannis Yiarentis, Chairman & CEO of the Administrator of Renewable Energy Sources and Guarantees of Origin (DAPEEP SA) and Prof. Nikolaos Vettas, General Manager of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE).
In total, more than 75 speakers and moderators are participating in this year's IENE's “Energy & Development” Conference. These include many senior executives from major energy companies and organizations in Greece and abroad, as well as academics, scientists, representatives of international organizations and well-known stakeholders. Moreover, established experts and analysts will share their perspective on highly topical energy matters.
Following the release by the International Energy Agency (IEA) of its flagship publication, the “World Energy Outlook 2024”, one of the first international presentations will take place during the conference and will be delivered by Mr. Oskaras Alsauskas, Energy Analyst who will travel to Athens especially for the occasion. The conclusions of WEO 2024 will be commented upon by a distinguished panel of experts. In this year’s edition, the flagship report by the International Energy Organization makes a specific reference to the central role of energy efficiency in green transition and energy security.
