IENE advances debate on key energy issues through series of Webinars

IENE advances debate on key energy issues through series of Webinars Following the launch of the present series of Webinars on May 14 a total of nine such events have been organised attracting a relatively large number of IENE members and associates who logged in and followed the discussions and presentations.

The webinars took the form of debates between three to four experts and industry executives moderated by a senior IENE partner or a journalist. A total of 38 panelists and moderators have so far participated in this first round of webinars while registered participants have exceeded 600 people.

As a start the webinars focused on the impact that the coronavirus pandemic had on the energy markets covering such diverse fields as oil and gas, electricity, renewables, energy efficiency and energy policy. In this initial round of webinars most contributors came from Greece with the exception of the webinar conducted on May 29 which covered latest developments in the East Med gas markets. More specifically participants in this event included Dr. Gina Cohen a well known analyst and university lecturer from Israel, Dr. Charles Ellina's from the Atlantic Council in the UK and Cyprus and Mr.Mathios Rigas, chairman and CEO of Energean PLC in the UK. The proceedings from all webinars are now accessible through IENE's YouTubeaccount.

A new series of IENE Webinars is to be announced next week which will focus on SE Europe and will aim to broaden the debate and address most key energy issues which now confront the region as the pandemic gives its place to a gradual restoration of business activity and investment challenges. Senior academics and company executives from Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, Greece, Cyprus and the UK will participate in a series of four such webinars.

Hellenic Petroleum, Greece's leading energy group active in all countries of SE Europe and Terna Energy SA, a well known pioneer company in renewables active in three continents, are the official sponsors of this first round of IENE webinars.
