Gazprom, Edison Discussed Gas Supplies to Europe Over ITGI Poseidon Pipeline

Gazprom and Italy’s Edison discussed organization of the southern route of Russian natural gas supplies to Europe over ITGI Poseidon gas pipeline route [Turkey-Greece-Italy interconnector pipeline project - TASS] against the background of resumed Turkish Stream project, the Russian gas holding said on Tuesday.

Gas supplies to Edison were also discussed at the working meeting between Chief Executive Officer of Gazprom Alexei Miller and Chief Executive Officer of Edison SpA Marc Benayoun in Milan, Gazprom said.

Poseidon pipeline can be an extension of either Turkish Stream or South Stream gas pipeline projects, analysts said.

On February 25, Gazprom signed a memorandum of understanding with Edison and Greek gas company DEPA on natural gas deliveries from Russia to the future gas pipeline ITGI, which will link Greece and Italy. For this purpose, the sides intend to use the results of the works carried out by Edison and DEPA under the ITGI (Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy) Poseidon project.
