Turkish renewable energy producer Fortis Energy said it has received preliminary permits for three wind parks in Serbia with a combined capacity of 509.4 MW.
Serbia's power grid operator Elektromreza Srbije (EMS) has officially approved the electricity grid connection for the 171-MW Vranje and the 194.4-MW Gornjak wind park projects, while a preliminary licence process is ongoing for the 144-MW Juhor project, Fortis said in a statement on Thursday.
The three wind power plants involve an investment totalling 550 million euro ($600 million), Fortis stated. The projects will generate 1,500 GWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 750,000 households.
In July, Fortis acquired a 180 MW solar project with a battery energy storage system in Serbia's northwestern town of Sremska Mitrovica. Prior to the acquisition, it had four solar sites under development in Serbia, with a combined capacity of 500 MW.
Earlier this year, Fortis also launched a 3 MW biogas power plant in Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina.
