Bosnia's Serb Republic Approves 38 Mln Euro Gasification Project

The government of Bosnia’s Serb Republic said it has approved the third and final phase of a public gasification project worth 74 million marka ($39.44 million/37.84 million euro).

This phase of the project covers the construction of a natural gas pipeline 48 km in length located in the eastern part of the Serb Republic, the entity's government said in a press release last week.

The construction contract was awarded to state-owned gas distribution company Sarajevo Gas. The project is fully funded through the public investment programme of the entity's government.

“The gasification of specific counties will create conditions for the development of industrial zones, which will enable the opening of production plants that will use natural gas for technological purposes, and most importantly, increase the employment of qualified workers”, the Serb Republic government said.

The Serb Republic's Action Fund managed by the Investment-Development Bank of the Serb Republic took over Sarajevo Gas in 2022, before starting the first phase of the gasification project in 2023. After the takeover, trading of Sarajevo Gas shares on the Banja Luka bourse was suspended.
