The Albania-Kosovo power exchange, the Alpex, said on Monday that Tirana-based company AlbEsp Trading & Consulting has become a member of the exchange for the Albanian bidding zone.
AlbEsp Trading & Consulting will now be able to trade electricity on the Alpex’s day-ahead market, the exchange said in a LinkedIn post.
With the addition of AlbEsp Trading & Consulting, Alpex now has 33 members, according to data on the power exchange’s website.
The Alpex was founded in October 2020 by Albania’s power transmission operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT. In January 2024, it introduced cross-trading in the day-ahead market for the Albanian and Kosovo bidding zones.
AlbEsp was established in 2021 in Tirana by four local individuals, of whom Klodian Melengu is majority shareholder. The company engages in the trade of electricity and natural gas, as well as engineering consultancy, according to the country’s business register.
