Bulgaria and the World Bank on Wednesday discussed what the Bank could
do to supporty the country’s efforts to achieve sustainable growth and
bring the living standards of its population to EU levels over the next
five years.
A World Bank team led by the Country Director for Central Europe and the
Baltic Countries Mamta Murthi and the Country Manager for Bulgaria Tony
Thompson discussed with Bulgarian cabinet ministers ideas about
policies aimed at achieving an accelerated and sustainable growth
through improving the business environment as well as policies relating
to infrastructure and investment in labour force.
The participants in the meeting agreed that preserving the macroeconomic
and social stability in Bulgaria is key to achieving sustainable
growth, the government said in a statement after the meeting.
The World Bank will summarize its conclusions on the conditions and
prerequisites for sustainable growth in a report expected to be released
in the following weeks.
