Bulgaria has received 60 million levs in advance payment from the
European Commission to launch operational program Environment 2014-2020,
according to Environment Minister Ivelina Vasileva.
Vasileva made clear Tuesday that the investments under the operational
program were of strategic importance for the country and that they would
give a boost to businesses.
She said that a total of 7000 jobs had been created so far during the implementation of the operational program.
Vasileva, as cited by the BGNES news agency, said that operational
program Environment would have a budget of 3.5 billion levs in the new
programming period expiring in 2020.
She specified that 70% of the total, or 2,340 billion levs, would go to
the water sector, 198 million levs would be spent on protected areas
and biodiversity, 153 million levs would be allocated to flood and
landslide prevention, 115 million levs would be used to enhance air
quality, and 92 million levs would be earmarked for technical assistance
under the program.
