BMW Sells Its First I8 Hybrid Supercar in Romania

German carmaker BMW and local leasing company ALD Automotive have managed to deliver the first BMW i8 hybrid sports car to a client in Romania less than a week after the model was officially launched locally. The car was delivered through an operational leasing contract to one of ALD Automotive’s top clients.

The BMW i8 only started selling in Romania on November 16. The model boasts with sports car performances and a very low fuel consumption as it has a 231-horsepower petrol engine and a 131-hp electric one. It can run solely on electricity on distances of over 30 kilometers.

The price for such a model in Romania is close to EUR 140,000, VAT included.

BMW also launched its BMW i3 electric model last week, Romania becoming the 50 market where the BMW i models are officially selling.

ALD Automotive also delivered in October the first fleet of electric compact cars Renault Zoe to local telecom operator Orange Romania.
