Last December during IENE’s annual conference, the 25th “Energy & Development 2021” conference the Institute awarded a number of life achievement prizes, known as ‘Prometheus’ awards, to a select number of individuals from Greece who have excelled themselves in their particular area of work. Two prizes were then awarded to Costas Travasaros, chairman of ESTIF, and to Dr.John Kambouris, president of the Regional Electricity Coordination Centre, for significant contributions in the advancement of solar thermal systems and Electricity Management Systems respectively. Three more awards were announced to three more individuals but were not actually given because the awardees were not able to participate in person because of Covid restrictions.
Hence, it was arranged that two of these awards were to be presented in person at first opportunity by IENE’s chairman to the individuals concerned. This opportunity arose few days ago when the Chairman of the Institute, Costis Stambolis, visited Mrs. Yioula Tsiknakou and Mr.Antonis Gerasimou in their respective offices for a special award ceremony.

In a seperate visit he made to the offices of the ITA Group on July 25, he presented the "Prometheus" award to Mr. Antony Gerasimou. Upon handing over the Promitheus statuette the chairman of IENE said: "Today we are bestowing the Prometheus award to Mr. Antony Gerasimou in recognition of his long-term and valuable contribution to the development and promotion of Renewable Energy Sources in Greece and beyond. I would say of a vanguard, driven and fueled by the will to overcome, together with partners and colleagues, obstacles that were insurmountable, beliefs that were considered grew, stable that seemed unshakable."
