Asprofos and Energy Exemplar are IENE’s Two New Corporate Members

Since the start of April, two new corporate members have joined the Institute. IENE wishes to extend a warm welcome to Asprofos S.A., a major Greek engineering consulting firm, and Energy Exemplar®, an Australia-based international leader in energy market modeling software used worldwide.

ASPROFOS S.A. (http://www.asprofos.gr/ ), a leading engineering firm in Greece, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hellenic Petroleum Group (www.hellenic-petroleum.gr), a long-standing member and supporter of IENE.

Asprofos was established in April 1983 following an agreement between Hellenic Aspropyrgos Refinery (ELDA) and Foster Wheeler Italiana(FWI), hence its name, which formed a joint venture with the aim of upgrading and expanding the state-owned Hellenic Aspropyrgos Refinery. Asprofos provided full engineering design, project management, procurement services, as well as construction supervision.

In 1988, Asprofos became a fully owned subsidiary of Hellenic Aspropyrgos Refinery (ELDA). As an independent company with valuable engineering experience from FWI it operated in accordance with internationally acceptable standards and practices.

Today, Asprofos is a competitive, versatile and reputable engineering firm that provides state-of-the-art engineering services such as basic design, FEED, detailed engineering, project management, construction supervision and consultancy services. Having more than thirty years of solid experience in major oil and gas projects, the company effectively provides services associated with oil and gas investments and major infrastructure projects in Greece and worldwide.

In 2006 the company expanded in order to provide software and services throughout the Asia-Pacific region and into southern Africa. On 29th June 2006, Energy Exemplar Pty Ltd was registered and assumed the role and responsibilities of Drayton Analytics Pty Ltd.

In June 2009, Energy Exemplar opened its second regional office located in London and expanded the distribution, support, implementation and consulting roles for the PLEXOS product in the European area.

Energy Exemplar remains first-to-market with the latest advances in mathematical programming and energy market simulation theory, as it strives to offer the most comprehensive simulation software to its customer base.
