On June 20, during the Institute’s 30th General Assembly, which was held at the offices of the Institute’s Deputy Chairman Mr. Constantinos Papamichalopoulos (at KG Law Firm), a new Executive Committee was elected following the decision by IENE’s chairman Mr. John Chatzivasiliadis to step down following three consecutive terms as Chairman.
Mr. Costis Stambolis, was unanimously elected as Chairman while he retains the position of Executive Director. Mr. Constantinos Papamichalopoulos was elected as Deputy Chairman and Constantinos Theofylaktos was reappointed as Secretary General.
The following partners were also elected as members of the Executive Committee:
Mr. Dionysios Xenos,
Mr. Christos Dimas,
Mr. Thomas Lamnidis and
Mr. Anastasios Tosios.
In another important development the General Assembly approved a proposal tabled by the outgoing Executive Committee to accept four new partners who will also join the Institute’s Board of Directors (BoD). The four partners elected to the BoD are the following:
Ms Sophia Politopoulou, Senior Executive at HEDNO (Greece’s Electricity Distributor)
Ms Eugenia Giannini, Lawyer at E. Giannini and Partners Law Firm
Mr. Konstantinos Karagiannakos, Senior Executive at DEPA (Greece’s Public Gas Corporation)
Mr. Giannis Grigoriou, CEO of Hellenic Petroleum Upstream
After welcoming the new partners, Mr. John Chatzivasiliadis expressed his satisfaction regarding the decision taken by the BoD and further stated that he wished the new partners will help improve and expand the institute’s work and will also collaborate smoothly and effectively with the rest of the partners and with the Executive Committee.
Then, the new Chaiman of the Institute Mr. Costis Stambolis, expressed his gratitude and praise not only for the constructive and harmonious collaboration that he had over the last six years with the outgoing president of IENE, Mr. John Chatzivasiliadis -which evolved under difficult and challenging circumstances due to the ongoing economic crisis- but also for his unwavering dedication, substantial scientific and administrative input and voluntary contribution to IENE’s work.
Following thet, Mr. Costis Stambolis addressed the partners and referred to the serious challenges that lay ahead during his two-year mandate. More specifically Mr. Costis Stambolis emphasized:
the need to focus on the core areas of the institute’s work and activities including research and studies, the further improvement of content and information flow to both partners and members, continuation and upgrading of the institute’s educational activities and the organization of well targeted events dealing with contemporary issues both home and abroad.
the need to develop a more outward looking profile for the institute, not only through the invitation, introduction and inclusion of new members, be it natural or legal entities, but also through the joint organization with regional or international organisations of conferences and other relevant events. In order to achieve that, it would be necessary to aim for the further enlargement of the group of partners, in order to include high caliber and experienced individuals from the energy sector of South East Europe.
the need to participate more actively in the public dialogue both home and at EU level, through focused and fully documented proposals and interventions.
