In a move that aims to stimulate a broader discussion at regional level and contribute to the strengthening of cooperation and coordination between the states of SE Europe, the Greek government will bring together and in the same venue where the Conference will be held, the Ministers of Energy and Economy of several countries of SE Europe under the chairmanship of Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostas Skrekas.
The 1st SEE Ministerial Energy Dialogue which will run parallel to the morning session of the "Energy & Development" conference and will be attended by Ms. Belinda Balluku, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Tirana, Mr. Kreshnik Bektesh, Minister of Economy, from Skopje, Mr. Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Energy, from Rome (online) Mr. Rosen Hristov, Minister of Energy, from Sofia, Mr. Virgil-Daniel Popescu, Minister of Energy, from Bucharest and Dr. Artane Rizvanolli, Minister of Economy from Pristina.
The above Ministers from the countries of the region are expected to consider ways to overcome the energy impasse of the last months, to search for solutions that will ensure the adequacy of energy supplies, including natural gas, as well as to discuss how the region can become a strategic energy transfer hub to the rest of the EU.
Upon completion of the above meeting, a panel discussion will follow between the Ministers within the framework of the annual 26th "Energy & Development 2022" Conference, coordinated by the well-respected journalist and Foreign Press Correspondent, John Psaropoulos.
The two-day National Energy Conference of IENE is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN) and the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE) and will take place at the Divani Caravel Hotel, in Athens.
