1,000 Dams in Bulgaria are in Need of Serious Repair

"1000 dams in Bulgaria need serious repair." This was announced by Director of the Metrology and Technical Surveillance Agency Kiril Voynov. He stressed that the state has seized some of the local authority to control dams in order to prevent tragedies for people.

"The changes that have occurred in nature, especially with global warming, are beginning to happen. What happened in Kameno, Greece and Romania should make us think about how to be more responsible, "he said. "We will now start a campaign to release the water volumes of the dams that have risen as a result of the floods.

But for us the biggest problem in this case was the cascade dams. We have 291 stunts in Bulgaria. We keep them under control 24 hours a day, "added Kiril Voynov, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Metrology and Technical Surveillance.
