Οn February 22, Eurelectric in cooperation with Greece’s Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) organized in Brussels a one-day workshop on "Infrastructure Investments in Smart Grids in SE Europe”.
The workshop focused on the methods of project financing for the transition into smart grids, the long-term investment planning, the role of the institutional framework, the risk in investments as well as the opportunities in the countries of the region.
IENE’s Research Associate Mr. Dimitrios Mezartasoglou actively participated in the workshop as part of the Institute’s brief of monitoring and analyzing latest developments in the region. Mr. Mezartasoglou’s participation was especially relevant and timely, as IENE is currently in the process of completing its major reference study "SE Europe Energy Outlook 2016” to be released later in the year.
Given the active interest expressed in the Workshop by market players, the Chairman & CEOof HEDNO, Professor Mr. Nikos Chatziargyriou, discussed the possibility of convening a similar one in Greece with the participation of Eurelectric and several European and Greek energy companies and institutions.
