Last week the Executive Director of IENE travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan to participate and speak at the 26th Inernational Caspian Oil & Gas conference upon the invitation of the organizers, the ITE group. The conference which took place at the Bilgah Beach Hotel on May 30/31 was convened under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and with the support of Socar, the State Oil Company.

A half day conference on the "Challenges Facing Greece's Electricity Market" was successfully organized by the Institute at the Divani Caravel hotel in Athens on Thursday, May 9 drawing large crowds of attendees and an impressive number of speakers and panelists. A total of 19 speakers and panelists participated in this timely event where the pressing issues now facing Greece's vibrant electricity market were hotly debated.

IENE participated in the high-level 25th annual BBSPA Conference, which was held on April 4-5, in Bucharest. IENE was represented by its Head of Research, Mr. Dimitris Mezartasoglou, who attended the Conference and through a presentation on “The Case for a Gas Trading Hub in SE Europe”, he outlined the prevailing situation in Central and SE Europe and presented data which showed the degree of market engagement of the various regional gas hubs currently in operation

On March 18 the annual “Energy Transitions 2019” conference took place in London organized by the Royal Institute of International Affairs, widely known as Chatham House. The conference, where IENE was a supporting organisation, was structured in four main sessions.
The special colloquium convened by IENE in Athens on March 5 to discuss the geopolitics of Energy Transition at regional level proved hugely successful judging by the range of topics discussed and the high level of speakers and panelists who participated in the event.
