The important developments concerning e-mobility were discussed during the web conference on "Electric Mobility and Smart Cities", organized by the Institute of Energy for South-East Europe (IENE) on 22 September 2021, which took place as part of the European Mobility Week, and was sponsored by Hellenic Petroleum.
On September 21, the Institute uploaded on its website its latest Working Paper (No. 31). In the latest issue of SEE Electricity Market Analysis, published weekly by IENE, a detailed account is presented on how electricity markets performed across SE Europe. The main characteristic of SEE energy markets last week was the almost uniform rise of electricity prices in line with the prevailing European trend.
On September 10, the Institute submitted its comments in the context of the public consultation conducted by Greece’s Regulatory Authority of Energy (RAE) on the terms of the proposed framework and underlying concepts of the new Gas Trading Platform to be launched by the Hellenic Energy Exchange (EnEx) sometime next year.
On September 7, the Institute sent to its members its latest bimonthly newsletter “Market Fundamentals and Prices” (Issue No. 342), which covers the period of July-August 2021. This newsletter contains comprehensive information on global and regional prices and trends for crude oil and petroleum products, natural gas, electricity, coal and emissions.
After a short break due to the summer recess the regular briefing of the members of the Institute has resumed once again through the dispatch of various newsletters and relevant information. So, last Monday (30/8) the weekly Analysis of the Greek Energy Market (No 214) was sent to members, followed on Wednesday (1/9) by the weekly overview of the energy markets of the countries in SE Europe, the "SEE Electricity Market Analysis" (No. 147). Furthermore, the monthly ‘’SEE Energy Brief – Market Watch’’ which presents a country by country account of latest developments in the local energy markets, was dispatched on Tuesday (31/8). Finally, IENE’s flagship newsletter, the ‘’Energy Weekly Report’’, followed on Thursday (2/9). Between them this group of newsletters provided an all round and timely picture of energy market developments in the SEE region and beyond.
Following a latest series of devastating fires and floods in SE European countries over the last few weeks and warnings by scientists that extreme weather phenomena may increase in future on account of climate change,the Institute,following a recommendation by its chairman,Mr.Costis Stambolis is going ahead to convene a special working group. This will be an ad hoc group composed of specialists in different fields .e.g electricity and gas networks,energy efficiency,renewables, energy management, telecommunications,flood control and harbour construction.
